This story is inspired by one of two Amerindian (First People) legends of Trinidad's Pitch Lake.
Our pitch lake is situated on the south-west coast, in a village called La Brea.
Trinidad's pitch lake is the largest commercial deposit of natural asphalt in the world and roads throughout the world are paved with Trinidad's asphalt!
According to our Chaima people's legend, the Colibri (hummingbird) legend, a group of their people celebrated an important victory by eating the sacred hummingbird. This angered the Gods, who damned the village and caused it to be swallowed up in a lake of pitch.
LegendizeU modernizes this legend through its plot, which centers on an Amerindian adolescent, Kayana, being sent to spend the night alone at the pitch lake as punishment and through its themes of teenage rebellion, knowing one's history, fear, failure and choice.
I hope this film encourages you to find your own legends and modernize them for now-generation appeal and LegendizeU!
